Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958)

Directed by Nathan (Hertz) Juran.
Starring Allisen Hayes.
72 Minutes – Not Rated

Gadzooks! Another no-brainer from director Juran who, believe it or not, also directed the great 7th Voyage of Sinbad that same year. The director even won an Academy Award in 1941 for art direction in the timeless classic, How Green Was My Valley. Juran uses his real name for the A stuff (see above) and a pseudonym, Hertz, for the B stuff.

Naturally, this one is a Hertz film all the way. For openers, the woman is at least 100 feet tall, which pretty much describes the FX as a whole. The giant alien who transforms her looks suspiciously like the bartender and, if you watch closely, you’ll learn New Zealand is off the southern coast of Africa. Isn’t this what we live for? Damn straight.

Oh yeah, the plot: Woman gets seriously even with philandering husband. Big woman and big alien ride off into the sunset? Who knows, but he made her his size for some reason… Delicious.
